The selection is vast and the quality is excellent. You will see every cover of the Saturday Evening Post illustrated by Rockwell from 1916-1963. In addition there are numerous advertisements, movie posters, portraits, the iconic Four Freedoms war bond posters and more. The works on display in the museum were specifically chosen from the largest privately-held collection of Norman Rockwell published prints in America.
Norman Rockwell chronicled America from 1916 to 1976 through about 4,000 magazine covers, advertising, movie posters, portraits and other art. Rockwell's 60-year career spanned most major events of the 20th Century - world wars, depression, technological change, the baby boom, social change and the space race. The museum is a treasure trove of American memories.
Use our innovative technology using QR codes that link over 50 illustrations to 2-minute professional videos that provide background and context on those illustrations. In addition, we encourage guests to watch an 11-minute video of Norman Rockwell which explains well his life and career.
The first question is "Find 10 Santa Clauses." Otherwise bored kids go wide-eyed, and take off through the museum in search of Santa. Parents peruse Rockwell's work in peace. The dozen scavenger hunt questions spark kid's learning about Rockwell and the history of America in the 20th Century.
Admission prices are $8.50 for adults, $6.00 for young people 6-17, and under 6 free. Since opening we have found that people of all ages enjoy the museum. Kids come alive with the scavenger hunt and adults enjoy Rockwell's covers, humor and his breadth of work. The museum is a great value for all.
The museum has a broad selection of Norman Rockwell published prints including magazine covers, advertising, movie posters, portraits and more.
In Norman's Theatre we feature an 11-minute video documentary about Norman Rockwell's life and career.
Rockwell's status as the most successful illustrator in America was established by illustrating 323 covers for the Saturday Evening Post over 47 years. We have them all.
